About me
Established in 2002
My artistic practice has evolved organically alongside the progression of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, gradually reshaping how I work. I am now only able to design independently using a small mouse, with all other aspects of making requiring assistance. While my circumstances inform my artistic decisions and methods, this narrative is not intended to be read directly within the finished works. Instead, the focus remains on form, process, and visual effect.
Working within a minimalist framework, my geometric work is non-objective and does not seek to represent anything beyond itself. It operates as a process-led exploration of colour, form, and structure, allowing the viewer space to interpret what they may or may not see. The clarity and restraint of this approach enable me to retain control over both the design process and the final image. Through the use of hard-edged shapes and limited variables, the influence of an assistant during execution is intentionally minimised.
In contrast, my fluid works embrace unpredictability and a conscious relinquishing of control. While I determine the colours and methods used, the final outcomes remain uncertain and often diverge from expectation. Each piece is shaped as much by chance as by intention, creating a tension between the precision and control present in my geometric practice and the openness and indeterminacy inherent in fluid art techniques.
